MEET MAGISTRATE KRISTEN MOORE
Magistrate Kristen Moore is proud to announce her candidacy for Judge of the Stark County Court of Common Pleas.
Magistrate Moore has more than seventeen years of experience practicing law in Stark County, including more than six years serving on the bench as a Magistrate with the Stark County Court of Common Pleas. Each day, she works to ensure that every person who appears before the court is treated fairly, that decisions are reasoned and thoughtful, and that the rights of individuals are carefully balanced with the responsibility to keep the community safe. She is a dedicated public servant with a deep commitment to justice.
Magistrate Kristen Moore learned the value of hard work and service early in life.
Kristen’s commitment to service was shaped early in life. Her parents instilled in her the values of hard work and respect for people from all walks of life. Her mother served as a nurse with the county health department, and her father worked as a rehabilitation counselor in the prison system. From a young age, Kristen learned the importance of service, responsibility, and perseverance. Beginning with her first paper route at age ten, and continuing through a stream of interesting work leading up to law school, she has consistently applied her energy and skills to making a meaningful difference.
Kristen excelled in local universities before launching her legal career.
Kristen earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Malone University, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and her Juris Doctor from the University of Akron School of Law, graduating Cum Laude with a Litigation Certification.
Kristen’s private practice experience has given her the real-world perspective needed to get the job done right.
In addition to her judicial service, Kristen has practiced law at several of Stark County’s most respected local law firms. Her legal experience includes representing small business owners whose livelihoods were at stake, individuals and families facing catastrophic injuries, and victims of sexual assault. She also has experience in complicated business matters and has represented Fortune 500 companies. Kristen quickly earned the reputation as the go-to person when cases required work in the courts of appeals. She has advocated for clients in a variety of trial courts and appellate courts throughout Ohio, including the Ohio Supreme Court, federal courts, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Magistrate Moore has a proven track record of judicial experience.
As a Magistrate, Kristen has presided over thousands of hearings, bench trials, and jury trials in the Stark County Court of Common Pleas. She has earned the respect of her colleagues and was selected to serve on the faculty of the Ohio Judicial College, where she has taught a variety of courses to Judges, Magistrates, and judicial staff year after year. Magistrate Moore has also served as Vice President of the Ohio Association of Magistrates and as Chair of its Practice and Procedure Committee. Previously, she served as Director of Stark County’s Veterans Treatment Court, known as Honor Court.
Kristen currently serves on the Judicial Committee of the Stark County Bar Association, where she participates in the evaluation and rating of judicial candidates, as well as the Bar Applicant Committee, conducting character and fitness interviews of prospective attorneys.
Kristen’s commitment to public service extends beyond the bench.
Magistrate Moore is deeply committed to community service. She has received the Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 & Under, been recognized by the Canton Chamber of Commerce’s ystark! Twenty Under 40 program, and has been inducted into the Canton YWCA Women’s Hall of Fame. Her community involvement includes service as past President of Women’s Impact, Inc., as a former board member of TomTod Ideas, the Aultman Women’s Board, the Stark County Court of Common Pleas Bicentennial Committee, the Akron Law Alumni Association, Past President of Malone University’s Young Alumni, Executive Committee of the Stark County Bar Association, Advisory Board Member of the Emerging Leaders of Akron Children’s Hospital, and as a legal advisor to McKinley High School’s mock trial teams.
Kristen lives in Jackson with her husband Tim, an elder law attorney, their daughter Lillian, and their four-legged family members.
